[One late evening, some guests will return to their beds to find a note left for them upon their pillow or desk. It will read:]
FROM THE DESK OF Lucifer to Felix Hugo Fraldarius
Felix,
It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you that an unnamed penitent has chosen to add the sin of murder to your list. This has unfortunately extended your contract.
Kirk had been worried Felix wouldn't enjoy the present he had chosen (what he had thought to be a balanced knife with an interesting geometric inlay on handle and blade), but Felix's gift to him had banished such doubts from his mind. The gifts were practical in nature, but that was just Felix, and he took it as a sign that the young man wished to keep training with him. Which made him love them all the more.
And good manners said he needed to go and thank Felix personally for the gift.
Which was how he ended up outside Felix's door a day or so after Christmas. He would have come sooner, but - well, he had been occupied. He knocked on the door, humming softly to himself as he waited, unable to keep the smile of his lips.
Felix was actually in for a change. Largely so he could spend some time with the puppies and kittens that were his, relaxing and polishing some blades while they played on his floor. It was relaxing, made him smile.
He was drawn from this by a knock to the suite door. Knowing he was alone with his roommates out, he got up to answer it cautiously. Of course he relaxed right away when he saw Kirk.
"Did you need something?" He cocked his head to the side some, curious. Then he paused and stepped aside to let him in.
"My room is that one if you want to come in. Don't let the animals out."
"Oh? Animals? As in plural? I thought it was just your kitten?"
He stepped inside, but instead of heading straight for the gaggle of small,
adorable creatures he turned just enough that he could lean over and peck
the corner of Felix's lips in a hello greeting.
"You'll have to introduce me to the others," he said before heading towards
them, making the cooing sounds necessary from any person with a soul when
they saw a baby of any sort when he popped open the door.
There was a flush at the kiss before he followed after Kirk into his room. There was one red puppy who was just jumping up for attention. "Sylvain..."
The other puppy was golden and growling even as he tried to get attention too. "Dimitri..."
A golden kitten seemed to be judging the dogs and lingering near the Glenn kitten. "Ingrid."
Felix closed the door to his room and went to sit on his bed, scratching the ears of the kittens there. And trying to pretend like he hadn't named the other three after how childhood friends while being glad Kirk didn't know that.
Well who could ignore a face like that? Kirk laughed and bent down to pick
up Sylvain, cradling the puppy to his chest and petting their bag softly,
letting it lick and wriggle against him.
"Nice to meet you all," he said, moving to sit beside Felix and placing the
puppy in his lap. "Quite the little menagerie you have going here, Felix."
Dimitri jumped up too, still growling but tail wagging like mad. Apparently he just had a weird way of showing affection. Felix smiled for half a second and scratched those ears before recovering and pretending like nothing happened.
"Let's see, you let your hide your first kitten in your coat and then in
your hood, and the next time I find you, you've practically tripled." Kirk
reached down and picked up Dimitri, wrangling both puppies in his lap,
letting them sniff and get used to him and take their scratches and
attention, greedy little things. "Should I be worried that next time you'll
have tripled again?"
The gaze he leveled at Felix was warm and teasing, shifting his weight so
his thigh pressed into Felix's.
Those brown eyes rolled and he gently shooed the kittens off his pillow to their makeshift bed on the night stand. Leaning back against his headboard, he let his leg linger near Kirk's. Mostly as a sign that he didn't mind the contact.
Just wondering if you were around. I could use your hand with something real quick.
[Sylvain sounds like his usual self, cheery and chatty. It is slightly suspicious though that's he's trying out the new tech he's been all but avoiding until now... to ask Felix for a hand with something...]
Oh. Hey. Wasn't sure you'd answer me. This thing is kind of cool.
[Not to mention convenient for hiding his face and sounding totally chill.]
Just wondering if you were busy. I've just got a little... something I could use your help with. [He sounds slightly more serious, like he actually does have something Felix could help him with.]
[He so badly wants to snap but even he can hear that he's actually needed here. It makes him sigh and finally he decides to try burying his irritation a little.]
Where are you?
[To the point. Because he doesn't want to spend any more time on this thing than he has to.]
Huh? Oh! No- I mean, I'm in my room right now, but I'll come to you.
Just wanted to make sure you weren't busy with anything. I'll see you soon.
[He snags the bandages he'd found in the shared bathroom and heads toward Felix's room. He's sans armor at the moment. In fact, he's down to just one layer, shirt unbuttoned low but not completely open. He did his best to patch up his own cuts, a lot of them surprisingly deep, likely angrier because the person he'd been trapped in the room with had suggested trying to break out and he'd gone along with it. After healing magic backfired last time, he hasn't dared try with these ones and, unfortunately he has a few cuts in places he can't reach easily.
He pauses in front of the door, pretty sure it's Felix's, and knocks.]
[Felix snaps to tell his dogs to be quiet then goes to answer the door. Sylvain can tell he's already looking him over to see what's wrong with him even as he steps aside to let him in.]
Go sit down on the bed. You know which one is mine.
[For starter's, Sylvain is down to his pants and shirt, which is unbuttoned and open. He'd had it off and pulled it back on for the short trek to Felix's room. He had a few smaller, shallower cuts that he'd cleaned up and a few deeper ones that he'd bandaged, but there were a handful he couldn't really reach, including one very vindictive cut that had sliced behind his ear and down toward his neck. It still looks pretty messy. He's also walking a little gingerly as he follows Felix's instructions but also shrugs back out of his shirt, revealing a few cuts on his back and shoulders.]
[He frowns at the injuries and waves the animals off as he closes the door. Grabbing the bandages, he goes to sit behind him. Those are the ones that Sylvain won't be able to reach and he knows it.]
[He seriously hates this stupid phone. It's difficult to work and the notifications are annoying. However, this one? He appreciates this one. It's short and tells him everything he needs to know immediately. So, he grabs a practice sword he's "borrowed" just in case the man doesn't want to use fists and he gets dressed.
He even gets dressed in training attire that Jim got for him. Not for flirtatious purposes but just to show that he's bothering to use them.
It's a few minutes later when he arrives.]
Fists or sword?
[Something is wrong but he's fine with them fighting it out first.]
[ He wanted to smile at Felix. He wanted to smile and flirt and sneak a kiss on his cheek or his lips or... anything. But he didn't have it in him. Not right now. His chest was to tight, his heart squeezing to hard, his blood pounding to loud in his ears. ]
Fists, please.
[ At least be polite. But he needed this. Needed the promise of physicality, of a pain he could identify and defeat the source of, rather than this nebulous nothing. ]
[ Good. This is what he needed. What he wanted. He dodged the first punch, barely, and threw himself back against Felix, striking and kicking. He was controlled, still, but there was something lying beneath it all, a quiet desperation that colored his grunts and the sheer aggressiveness of his assault, daring Felix to strike back with equal fervor. When Felix landed hits he almost seemed to welcome it. ]
[It's easy to see that there's emotion behind this. Felix can even tell he's getting hits in that might be from distraction. Or a desire to feel pain. This is definitely not like their other sessions and he makes sure to be extra light on his feet to avoid the aggressive blows. All that Dancer training is being put to use here to make himself extra hard to hit.
And then he decides not to follow his usual patterns. Ducking low very suddenly, he dodges another fist before jabbing an elbow at Jim's gut in an attempt to take him off guard and down.]
[ He's not out to hurt Felix, at least, and none of his hits are aimed for places that he wouldn't otherwise go for. Felix isn't at fault here. It's not Felix's fault, and this is not some strange punishment taking it all out on Felix. If anything, he wants it taken out on himself.
He gasped when the elbow hit, spit flying from his lips and the breath bursting from his lungs. He stumbled, clutching his stomach and kneeling down as he struggled to his breath back. Damn that had hit hard. He held up his hand, calling for a brief yield. ]
